WHAT CAN YOU DO? > SCHOOL SUPPORT

Schools are ideal institutions for promoting Family Day. Schools can:

  • Post information about Family Day
  • Encourage Parent Teacher Associations to adopt and publicize Family Day
  • Encourage teachers to incorporate Family Day into their lesson plans and ask teachers to encourage children to eat dinner with their parents on that night. Teachers can even help or encourage children to plan the menu and cook dinner with their parents
  • Host an essay contest that asks students to write about topics such as their most memorable family dinner, their favorite family meal or what they enjoy most about eating dinner as a family
  • Cancel homework on Family Day.
  • Make sure not to schedule any activities on Family Day so children will be free to eat dinner
